Gaming and Violence

The guy thing about violence, well women can get violent too, like when a man tries to rape her, or someone hurts her baby.  Men just get mad about different things then women.  I find violence on a computer games at times silly when the fighting get unreal, using fighting maneuvers that are impossible or bodies falling about in way that would not happen in real life. I get boring when the game is played repeatedly.  I prefer games that require some serious thinking.  I find the violent computer games to be somewhat irritating, because they move to fast.

Are the men playing the computer games because the men are violent, or did they become violent because they were playing computer games?  Some people say that a violent computer games helps them unwind.  They need it to relax.  When they do get into a fight, they use a fighting move that they learned on the computer game.  Did the lesson on the computer game push them into the fight?  Probably not, it did give them some confidence and this confidence may have been a factor when they choose to get into the fight.

No women want to be stereotyped.  Women want to be something real to the men.  It is hard to live up to the Barbie Dall image.  That is a skinny waste, and big bust.  If a woman has a big bust, then she has a thick waste.  If she has a skinny waste then she has a flat chest.  The computer games that show women receiving money from then and then the men shoot them what is that saying.  Men want women to disappear after sex.  Women are sexy on computer games because that is what the men want, so women need to get more games out there that show men doing what the women want from men.  Hen pecked!

There was an effort to stop violence on TV and that amounted to nothing but talk.  The entertainment industry listens to who ever has the money, so I don’t think that stopping violent computer games is going to amount to much either.  At times, you hear of a court trial where they tried to prove that the violence on TV is what influenced the criminal.  If they did not get the idea from TV then it would be a book in the library.  The same is true for the computer.  If a person wants to commit a crime then they are going to find a way to do.  It is the desire to commit the crime that we must control.

On the other side of the coin, some of the super heroes we have now days for children are great. They try very hard to teach the children a lesson.  Older men may make fun of them, but the children’s games are what we need now days to influence the next generation.  I have children, they are now grown, and they have left home.  They really get into the computer games.  Sometimes I think that they might be wasting their money, but they want the entertainment.  My generation had different kinds of entertainment that would seem boring to this generation, such as beach movies.

I found hate.com

Brasher, Brenda E., Give Me That On Line Religion, Jossey-Bass
       Company San Francisco, 2001

In her book, Brasher says that “Once the apocalyptic lever is tripped in the human mind; almost any random event can become fodder for the widening maw of end-time significance"(Brasher 2001:164).  The fear is that the speed of the intranet could cause a race war overnight.  In the movie hate.com, it was said that the lone wolves were hoping to start a race war by setting off explosions throughout the country.  Could one of these attacks be enough to trigger an apocalyptic event significant to start a panic nation wide?

As I watched, the video and look through the web sights of hate it seemed that old worn out pages of history (old wars) were being used to inflame their hate.  This is all history we as humans could never be proud of.  I thought we had advanced past this bitterness between races.  I think that they are stuck in the past while the rest of the world has moved on in development of a better future.  (www.aryan-nation.org)

The races on hate.com hold on to history because they are afraid of the future, because it is unknown.  Their ideas of the future are to repeat the past wars.  One of the common fears I saw on the hate.com video was the fear of breeding with an inferior race.  They visualize an end to their race.  It there race perfect?  What would men turn into if we all started to interbreed with THEM?  They imagine that the offspring would turn into lazy weaklings, awful, hideous, or uncontrollable monsters.

The half breeds always try to get along with both sides.  They kind of play the part of peacekeeper.  They do not want to breed with an inferior race well what has to say that the half breed would be the worst of both races.  They might be the strength of both races.  My former husband was of mixed blood, part white, black, and Native American.  I know that my children are strong, and more tolerant of different races, and they seem to be fare more capable of dealing with problems of this world then I ever could be.  Is this the result of interbreeding?  I like to think so.  The argument of interbreeding is what would be gain by breeding with THEM.

The authors of the hate web sights seem to be missing something in life.  That is the part of us that says this is enough fighting; it is time to stop the war.  The authors of the hate webs do not have the will to turn the history book to the next page and that page is peace.  The intranet can help speed up out effect to put an end to hate.com by providing a means for communication that we were not able to achieve before.  We must learn to encourage the inclination toward good and retrain the inclination toward evil.  "Developing healthy civil societies for the third millennium requires that the dangers of cyberspace enhanced apocalyptic fever be contained while its capacity to motivate us to believe in and therefore create just societies to be allowed to flourish" (Brasher 2001:183)

As we use up the resources of this world and population increases then we will have to look to the stars for a new home.  Is the apocalypse a event that will force us into space to find a new world for mankind?

Hanging

#5-Kendall, Lori. Hanging Out in the Virtual Pub.  Los
Angeles: University Of California Press:  2002

On the web is like wearing a disguise at a party, but with the web you have time to think before typing anything in.  At a party, you can give yourself away with every conversation.  "While on-line interactions or mudder relations are thus not anonymous by definition, they do introduce the potential for identity ambiguity"(Kendall:  112).  You do not have to tell anyone what your real name is.  People who are shy, but enjoy writing would really have fun with on line conversations.  You can be any sex you want, anything your want or an it by creating a robot.

Conversations on-line do not require talking face to face, but this could cause problems when understanding the conversation.  You do not have the advantage of facial cues, or body language.  In a Mud, robots can add too the confusion.  They are often used because they can act human, and they can be used to maintain connections and learn more about the person who made the robot.  They have mechanical movements that eventually give them away.  "Once they gain familiarity with robots, and their functions, participants view robots more a utilitarian objects"(Kendall:  116).  Robots may be ignore on-line.

Living a lie can be difficult.  One problem that could develop on-line is:  If you tell everyone that you are a Doctor of Medicine, you would get hundreds of questions asking for health tips.  This identity would be hard to maintain if you did not have some medical schooling, and a good medical dictionary handy.  I'm not sure if it would be legal to practice medicine on line without a medical license.

If you want friends, you must blow your cover.  "On a personal level, forming close relationships usually involves disclosure of intimate information...people may be able to include detailed fictional information in the maintenance of a fictional character, few people can successfully carry off a long-term, detailed masquerade"(Kendall:  113).  There are people who never take the step to make close friends, and others have a long list of friends they visit from time to time.

Hiding your sexual identity can be tricky and can lead to some problems on line.  "Some participants exploit the possibility of gender and sexual identity ambiguity for sexual enjoyment and adventure"(Kendall:  121).  No one wants to suddenly discover that they were writing love letters to someone of the same sex.  How would you convince people that you did not know what sex the person was; that you were deceived.  It would be a very embarrassing for a politician.

Some relationships on line can be fun if you can take a joke.  "some participants deceive others by concealing previously known on-line identities...They may also seek to tease or test others...engage in discrediting activity without attaching that activity to their known social identity"(Kendall:  121).  How would your boyfriend behave with another women, you could go on-line as someone else and test his love.

cyberfeminism

Feminism is not just a political thought.  Women argue that they do not necessarily belong in bed, in the kitchen, or doing the cleaning.  Women can take provide for the children, and work on a career like the men.  Feminist fight the view that man is superior and women are vulnerable.  "Darwin constantly maintains, that evolution is a very slow process....'That the males of all mammals eagerly pursue the femal...less eager then the male..,and though coy she demands to be courted and charmed, leading to the development of secondary sexual characteristics" Kember:  42).  The feminist movement wants the stereotypical treatment of women to stop.  Women are not something to be conquered, manipulated and controlled.  I would like to say that men cannot even talk about the problem without trying to diminish its importance, and now we fight about the web.

Women question the motives of men who designed the web. Where is women place here?  Is this going to be another sexist thing?  "The combination of creationism and colonialism is indicative not just of masculinity but of race.  Cyberspace cowboys owe much to their ancestors" (Kember:  76). So long as it is, only men in charge of the web women will always suspect their motives.  "Why are there so few women in visible positions of leadership in the electronic world?" (Wilding:  3). Cyberfeminism should include more then just the internet.  It should be women’s interaction with computer technology.  We should be working along side of the men in every field.

Feminist argued that the stereotyping of women learned in culture then it was natural instinct of nature.  "Rather, cyberfeminism, while observing the exchanges between nature and culture in specific contexts has the opportunity of intervening in processes of renaturalisation by learning, through dialogue, new languages and/or new skills with which to engineer embodied form of subjectivity (which come to matter) and perhaps a posthumanism with a difference" (Kember:  7). Men argue that here was a systems that can express women’s every need.  Women can be anything they want on the web.  They can be a man, animal, independent, entrepreneur, or god herself.  It is up to women to make sure that the web remains free, so that women will always have equal rights to the web. They argue that in the web women can no longer blame society for the sexism they have fought for years, because now women can be anything.

It is up to Women to decide how women are shown on the web. "How to create a feminist politics and activist trajectory of their own to address new cultural and technological conditions and experiences" (Wilding:  2) We cannot trust men to show women in a respectable light, on the web woman are something other then sex toys, and slaves in the house.   "The computer is a contained, pristine birthing environment which can be turned off and walked away from at will". (Kember:  75) Since we can turn off the computer, does that mean we can turn off the stereotyping as well.  Talking about toys what is Artificial Life going to produce as far as dolls for men to play with, another problem.

True Catholics and Evangelical

In this paper I will try to answer questions about the Catholic and Lutheran churches. What are the Views of Pope Pius XIII? Which is the true church of God? What is the True Bible of God? Why did Lutherans separate from the Catholic Church?
The Catholic church now has a true Pope of God. The former popes have been accused of usurping the name of the Catholic Church. The bogus Council Vatican II (1962-1965) led the church in acute deception. The purpose of the web site is to examine the teaching of the former popes, and introduce the excellent teaching of the new pope. I understand that the Catholics are always hard on their former popes.
The Catholics have the true Bible; the protestants have faulty and false English translations. The Catholics have the Latin Vulgate Bible and even the Protestants agree that it is the best Bible. The true word in Latin does not change meaning, were as the English language changes all the time. When you take away the authority of the Church of God you create all kinds of errors and blasphemous doctrines. (Pius XIII-church: 4) Lutherans say "Since the Holy Scriptures are the Word of God, it goes without saying that they contain no errors or contradictions, but that they are in all their parts and words infallible true"(Fifth Biennial-history-roots: 3). Luther believe that the bible had to be in the language of the people, so he translated the bible into German so that all can believe and be saved, later it was translated into English.
The Lutherans claim that Martin Luther was aware of differences between the Bible and church practices of the day, and he inspired others to protest church practices to reform the church. "What stared as an academic debate escalated to a religious war, fueled by fiery temperaments and violent language on both sides? As a result, there was not a reformation of the church but a separation." (Fifth Biennial-brief: 2) Lutherans believe that theirs is a true religion, but they don't believe that they are the only ones."Our every attempt to please God falls short of the mark."(Fifth Biennial-brief: 4)This means that we are in need of God's mercy and forgiveness, every day. The Pope says, “Just as the idiot cannot reason in the natural order, so too the person without divine and Catholic faith cannot “reason” in the supernatural order” (Pius XIII-car9407:2)
They say that if Martin Luther was alive today he never would have
left the Catholic Church, but on the true Catholic web there were accusations of corruption in the past popes.Pope Pius VIII says, "They are full of skullduggery, so we will not trust them to even make correct copies of former true documents" (Pius XIIIcar9705:5). What was the corruption? Plans to adapt some of the protestant views. I had fun with this report. Deanna Parks

Religion

What does religion do?

Religion fills a void. It does more then just answer questions about life. Where did I come from or what is god? It gives people a sense of well being, contentment in the middle of our hectic world. Religion is cheaper
then a Psychologist, or one of those expensive health resorts. Religious counseling and education can give a person a place to go for help with personal problems. Non-religious help lines don't always have the spiritual up lift and feeling that you have indeed been forgiven for an offence. All religion teaches that meditation or prayer gives us a means to peace of mind. In cyber space this is accomplished with special effects.

What should religion do?

It should help mankind over our anxiety. That nervous tension which builds up if we don't find some form of release or relaxation. In the Brasher text, the online sights, such as monk haven were designed to accomplish just that. Religion should also provide fellowship which could be done on-line, but this is more of a one-on-one type of communication. A worship service would give the person fellowship on a larger scale. Chanting and singing in a group, and the listening to a speaker is always spiritually uplifting on those days when your feeling can't be put into words. I'm not sure that this fellowship can be accomplished on the web.

The proof of the importance of religion is found in the vast numbers of followers. The major religions in particular, Christian, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, or Islam. The large numbers of fans for on-line Celebrity shrines is not what I would call a religion. I am a Star Trek fan, because it is a real portrayal of the future, but I would not call it my religion.
